EKAHI soft top surfboards are designed for surfers who want an easy, stable and durable board to catch more waves with confidence. Also known as softboards or foam surfboards, they are one of the best choices for beginners, kids, families and anyone looking for a safe and forgiving surfboard.

Thanks to their generous volume, soft deck and stable shape, our foam surfboards make paddling easier, improve balance and help surfers catch waves earlier, even in small or weak conditions.

Built for Stability, Fun and Easy Progression

Our soft top surfboards combine generous volume, a forgiving soft deck and durable materials to create boards that feel stable, safe and easy to ride. The goal is simple: help surfers paddle earlier, stand up with more confidence and enjoy more waves in a wide range of conditions.

  • Stable and forgiving foam construction
  • Lighter and more maneuverable than traditional beginner foam boards
  • Removable fins included

Heat-Laminated Soft Top Construction

EKAHI soft top surfboards are built with a high-density EPS foam core, dual wood stringers and a heat-laminated construction designed for durability, stability and everyday use.

The IXPE soft deck is intentionally smooth to help reduce skin irritation, unlike embossed foam decks that can feel abrasive during longer sessions. It is designed to hold wax effectively, giving surfers the grip they need while keeping a more comfortable feel against the skin.

The HDPE slick bottom helps improve glide and reduce drag on the wave. This construction creates a board that is easy to paddle, stable when taking off and smooth once you are up and riding.

From 7’ upward, our soft top surfboards also include an additional resin stringer to bring more stiffness and support to the larger sizes. The result is a reliable foam surfboard made for learning, progressing and having fun in small to medium waves.

Our team surfs and tests the boards before selling them, so each design choice is based on real sessions, real feedback and practical comfort in the water.

BUYER'S GUIDE

CHOOSING YOUR FIRST SURFBOARD

Buying your first surfboard is stressful.

Too short and you’re paddling for nothing. Too stiff and every knock hurts. Too “performance” and you’ll spend more time swimming after your board than riding it. Here’s what actually matters when you’re starting out: not the marketing list, the real one.

SOFT TOP OR CARBON: WHERE TO START?

For a first board, the answer is simple: soft top. A carbon board is built to transfer maximum energy. That’s exactly what you don’t want while you’re still learning to find your balance. A soft top forgives bad positioning, takes falls without warping, and doesn’t hurt on contact. Carbon comes later, once the board needs to match your level rather than make up for it.

THE 4 THINGS THAT ACTUALLY MATTER

01
Volume before length.

Two boards the same size can float very differently. The more stable you are at rest, the sooner you’ll spend time standing instead of paddling.

02
Removable, flexible fins.

Falls happen often while learning, and a soft fin cuts down on injuries when they do. It’s the detail low-end school boards skip most often.

03
A deck that doesn't tear up your skin.

Heavy performance-grade traction gets abrasive fast over long learning sessions. A smooth IXPE deck holds wax without the irritation.

04
A build made to take a beating.

Early sessions mean falls, wipeouts, and contact with sand or other boards. Durability matters more than weight here.

HOW LONG SHOULD YOU KEEP A BEGINNER BOARD?

You’ll feel a soft top’s limits the day you start wanting more speed and precision than it can give. That’s not a flaw in the board: it’s a sign you’re progressing. That’s when a carbon hybrid (like our 53) takes over without changing everything at once.

MISTAKES TO AVOID

Buying a shorter board “to progress faster”: it backfires, fewer waves caught, more frustration.

Choosing a board with stiff, fixed fins to save a few euros.

Skipping the leash at purchase: without it, even the best board is hard to use safely.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE

FIND THE RIGHT SOFT TOP SURFBOARD SIZE.

Choosing the right soft top surfboard depends on your level, weight, confidence in the water and the type of waves you want to surf. A smaller board will feel more playful and easier to carry, while a longer board will offer more stability, paddle power and wave-catching ability.

Softboards for More Than Just Learning.

Softboards are often seen as beginner boards, but they can be much more than that. Their volume, safety and easy glide make them ideal for relaxed sessions, crowded summer days, shorebreak waves and playful surfing when conditions are small or inconsistent.
